They are a starting point for a conversation, not a quotation. Send us your dates and we will come back with a firm price and a written breakdown of what is and is not included.
Goa is not one destination. North Goa and South Goa are genuinely different holidays, and the single most useful thing a travel planner can do is put you on the right side of the Zuari river. A family with young children staying in Baga will have a very different week from the same family staying in Cavelossim, and only one of those weeks will be relaxing.
The second thing that matters is the season. Goa in December is a party; Goa in August is a green, empty, rain-washed place where half the shacks are closed. Both are good, but they are not the same product, and pricing between them differs by a factor of three.
We plan Goa around what you actually want: quiet mornings and a beach you can walk, or restaurants and nightlife and a scooter, or heritage churches and Portuguese houses and a slow lunch in Panjim. Often it is some combination, which usually means splitting your stay between two areas rather than picking one and compromising.
There is no single right month, only the right month for what you want. Here is how the year breaks down, and what each window means for weather, crowds and price.
| November to February | The peak season and the reason Goa has a reputation. Perfect weather, every shack open, and the highest prices of the year. |
|---|---|
| October and March | Shoulder months. Good weather, most places open, and noticeably better value. |
| April and May | Hot and humid, but quiet and cheap. Early mornings and evenings are lovely. |
| June to September | Monsoon. Green, dramatic, and very affordable. Many shacks close and swimming is restricted, but the state is beautiful. |
Baga, Calangute and Candolim are busy, social and convenient, with the most restaurants and the best nightlife. Anjuna, Vagator and Ashwem are progressively calmer and more characterful. Arambol at the top is the quietest of the north. If you want things to do after dark, this is your half of the state.
Palolem, Agonda, Cavelossim and Benaulim have wide clean beaches, far fewer people and a much slower rhythm. This is where we put families with small children, couples who want quiet, and anyone whose idea of a holiday involves a book. Restaurants are fewer, so staying at a resort with good food matters more.
The Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral, and the Latin Quarter at Fontainhas with its painted Portuguese houses. Half a day, best done in the morning before the heat, and it gives the trip something beyond sand.
A river cruise at sunset, or better, the ferry to Divar Island and a slow cycle or drive through villages that look the way Goa looked fifty years ago. Almost nobody does this and it is one of our favourite recommendations.
Parasailing, jet skis and banana boats at the north beaches, and the Dudhsagar waterfall jeep safari inland, which is spectacular just after the monsoon and dry by March. We will tell you when Dudhsagar is worth the long day and when it is not.
Goan fish curry rice, xacuti, vindaloo as it is actually made, and bebinca. There are also excellent vegetarian Goan and Saraswat options that visitors routinely miss. We can point you to the places locals eat rather than the beachfront names everyone lists.
A starting point, not a fixed plan. Every MilesBeyond itinerary is rebuilt around your dates, your group and the pace you actually want.
| Day 1 | Arrive Goa, transfer to North Goa, evening at the beach. |
|---|---|
| Day 2 | North beaches, Anjuna market if it is Wednesday, sunset at Vagator. |
| Day 3 | Old Goa churches and Panjim's Latin Quarter, river cruise. |
| Day 4 | Transfer to South Goa, slow afternoon at Palolem or Cavelossim. |
| Day 5 | Free beach day, optional dolphin trip or spa. |
| Day 6 | Dudhsagar jeep safari or a second quiet beach day. |
| Day 7 | Last swim, transfer to the airport. |
South Goa for families with young children and for couples who want quiet. North Goa for friends groups and anyone who wants restaurants and evenings out. A split stay works well over five or six nights and is what we recommend most often.
| Ideal duration | 4 to 6 nights |
|---|---|
| Getting there | Direct and one-stop flights from Coimbatore, or overnight train |
| Currency | Indian Rupee |
| Getting around | Rented scooter or car, or a private car with driver; taxis are expensive |
| Best season | November to February for weather, October and March for value |
| Best suited to | Families, couples, friends groups, first-time beach travellers |
Unless your quotation says otherwise, our packages include return flights, accommodation on twin sharing, airport and inter-city transfers, the sightseeing listed in your itinerary, daily breakfast, visa or permit assistance where applicable, and our planning and on-trip support.
They exclude personal expenses, meals not specified, optional excursions, tips, travel insurance and anything arising from delays outside our control. Every quotation lists inclusions and exclusions separately, so you know exactly what you are paying for before you pay anything.
You tell us your travel month, how many people are coming and roughly what you want to spend. We come back with a written itinerary showing the hotels by name, the transfers, and a clear price. If something does not suit you, we change it. There is no obligation, and we do not take a booking until you are happy with the plan on paper.
Once you travel, you have a real person on WhatsApp for the length of the trip. Flight delay, a hotel that is not as promised, a change of plan on day four: one message and we handle it from Coimbatore.
Tell us the month, the number of travellers and anything that matters to you. A planner replies with real options and a real price.
It depends entirely on what you want. North Goa has the restaurants, markets and nightlife and is busier. South Goa has wider, quieter beaches and a slower pace, and suits families with small children and couples wanting rest. Many of our travellers split their stay between both.
November to February has the best weather and the highest prices. October and March give you nearly the same weather at noticeably better rates. The monsoon months of June to September are green and very cheap but many beach shacks close.
Yes, particularly South Goa. The beaches are wider and calmer, the resorts are set up for families, and there is much less late-night noise. We would generally steer families with young children away from Baga and Calangute.
Four nights is enough for a good beach break. Five or six nights lets you split between north and south and add a heritage day in Old Goa and Panjim without it feeling rushed.
Most visitors rent a scooter or a car, since taxis in Goa are expensive and app-based cabs are limited. For families and for travellers who would rather not drive, we arrange a private car with a driver for the duration.
If you want green landscapes, empty beaches and luxury resorts at a fraction of their usual rate, yes. Swimming is restricted, many shacks close and the weather is unpredictable, so it suits travellers who want rest rather than beach activity.
Tell us your dates and who is travelling. We will build the trip around you and stay available while you are away.
