What Dubai is not is a city that reveals itself on its own. The standard tour covers Burj Khalifa, a desert safari, a dhow cruise and a mall, and that is a perfectly good weekend. But there is also Al Fahidi's old lanes, the abra crossing at Dubai Creek for a single dirham, the gold and spice souks on the Deira side, and Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which many travellers rate as the single most beautiful thing they saw on the trip.

The best time to visit Dubai

There is no single right month, only the right month for what you want. Here is how the year breaks down, and what each window means for weather, crowds and price.

November to March	The good season. Pleasant days, cool evenings, outdoor dining, and the Dubai Shopping Festival in January.
April and October	Shoulder months. Warm but manageable, and rates are noticeably lower.
May to September	Very hot. Everything indoors is superb and hotel pricing is at its lowest, which suits some families well.
Ramadan period	Dates shift each year. The city is calmer and beautiful in the evenings; some daytime dining is limited. We will tell you if your dates overlap.

What to do in Dubai

Burj Khalifa, timed properly

The At The Top observation deck is worth it, and the difference between a good visit and a queue is entirely about which slot you book. We aim for the window just before sunset so you see the city in daylight, at golden hour and lit up, all in one visit. Book this weeks in advance, not on the day.

A desert safari that is not just a dune-bashing van

There is a real range here, from a basic shared 4x4 with a buffet to a private evening at a desert camp with falconry and a proper dinner. We will explain the difference honestly and let you choose. If anyone in your group gets motion sick, say so and we will arrange a gentler version.

Old Dubai, which most packages skip

Al Fahidi historical neighbourhood, the abra ride across the Creek, and the gold and spice souks take half a day and cost almost nothing. For many of our travellers this ends up being their favourite part of the trip, precisely because it feels like a city rather than a showroom.

Abu Dhabi as a full day

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the morning light, then Louvre Abu Dhabi or Qasr Al Watan. It is a ninety-minute drive each way, so we plan it as a full private day rather than squeezing it in. Dress code at the mosque is strict and we brief you on it in advance.

For children, specifically

IMG Worlds, Global Village in season, the aquarium at Dubai Mall, and the beaches at JBR. We will tell you which of these your children's ages actually suit, rather than adding every theme park to the invoice.

Where to stay, which matters more than you think

Downtown for the Burj and the mall, Marina or JBR for the beach and evening walks, Deira for value and proximity to old Dubai. The wrong choice means an hour in traffic every day. We pick based on what you actually want to do.

Who this trip suits

Dubai is the strongest recommendation we make for a first international family trip, particularly when the group spans three generations. It is also excellent for a short high-impact break when you only have five or six days of leave. It is less suited to travellers who want nature and quiet, unless you extend into Ras Al Khaimah or the Hajar mountains.

Unless your quotation says otherwise, our packages include return flights, accommodation on twin sharing, airport and inter-city transfers, the sightseeing listed in your itinerary, daily breakfast, visa or permit assistance where applicable, and our planning and on-trip support.

They exclude personal expenses, meals not specified, optional excursions, tips, travel insurance and anything arising from delays outside our control. Every quotation lists inclusions and exclusions separately, so you know exactly what you are paying for before you pay anything.

You tell us your travel month, how many people are coming and roughly what you want to spend. We come back with a written itinerary showing the hotels by name, the transfers, and a clear price. If something does not suit you, we change it. There is no obligation, and we do not take a booking until you are happy with the plan on paper.
